AMPS Benito Juarez Elementary School

Mission

AMPS — Benito Juarez Elementary (BJE) seeks to prepare students to become innovative individuals who take risks for the good of their academic progress and their community and who persevere as they seek knowledge through college and beyond.

Curriculum & Instruction

Like all AMPS schools, BJE provides a rigorous college preparatory and character development program. We provide Teaching Assistants in all classrooms and Paraprofessional tutoring services for all students. Our curriculum is standards-based and we have one to one technology devices for every scholar. In addition, we provide weekly an English Language Development (ELD) program and Individual Learning Block (ILB) where students receive targeted intervention and support based on their needs.

Culture & Safety

BJE believes in developing scholars academically and socially. The school utilizes a structured character development system called Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS), which focuses on proactive and positive behavior choices and restorative practices, and has a daily Social Emotional Learning (SEL) block, which teaches children and adults how to effectively apply the skills necessary to manage emotions, set positive goals, establish positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. BJE has a student wellness center and an onsite counselor.

Programs & Activities

BJE offers many extracurricular activities, such as art, daily PE, and various after-school programs, including sports, art, music, and a homework club. Families are an integral part of the school, and throughout the year, parents and families are invited to events such as school carnivals, book fairs, food drives, festivals, sports events, student conferences, volunteer days, and more.
