Misión

LPS is a network of three Bay Area charter high schools whose mission is to create inclusive, empowering, and college-preparatory learning experiences for students that equip them for success in college, career, and community leadership.

Instrucción y Currículo

LPS Richmond offers a number of support classes to help students strengthen their academic skills and build college and career readiness. Courses include English Language Development, a variety of Advance Placement courses, Ethnic Studies, and a CTE pathway. Math support classes include Navigate Math and math-specific Tutorial classes. Our Advisory program includes an robust socio-emotional, college and career, and academic habits curriculum. LPS also offers tutoring, Homework Center, and office hours lead by credentialed teachers.

LPS Richmond values physical and emotional safety for all students and staff. We recognize that every educational partner on campus contributes to a healthy culture. LPS Richmond uses restorative practices to address behaviors that encourage problem-solving accountability, community, and harm reduction. In addition to resolution conferences designed to address issues between individual community members, LPS Richmond reinforces community norms that clarify expectations and maintain an ethical climate that values honesty, effort, and respect for others.

LPS Richmond is committed to strengthening students’ self-awareness and their sense of purpose, in addition to providing a rigorous academic experience, to help them make positive choices for their future and to support others in their personal growth. In order to help students explore and develop their interests, LPS Richmond offers a variety of clubs and sports to enrich our academic programs and build post-secondary skills.

The following information will be used to prioritize applicants at Leadership Public Schools – Richmond (LPS) during the Round One student assignment process. No particular type of applicant is guaranteed admission.

Students applying to LPS are prioritized in the following way:

  1. Students who have a sibling currently attending LPS Richmond
  2. Children of LPS Richmond employees
  3. Students who are homeless or are currently in foster care
  4. Students who reside in the Kennedy High School boundary; and/or students who are not yet meeting grade-level standards in Math or English (as measured by most recent CST scores and/or report card/ transcript); and/or students who reside in the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD) boundary
  5. Residents of the Kennedy High School boundary will receive five (5) entries into the lottery
  6. Students who are not yet meeting grade-level standards will receive thirty (30) entries into the lottery
  7. Students who reside in the WCCUSD boundary will receive ten (10) entries into the lottery
