Summit K2 prepares students for college through personalized project-based learning, mentorship, and reading/math interventions. Students meet with their mentor, who helps them to build key habits such as time management and managing stress, three times per week. Teachers build critical thinking skills via a rigorous UC/CSU-approved curriculum, and specialized support is offered both in class and after school. All high school students also take a college readiness class.
Summit K2 offers a robust mentoring program that builds authentic connections and supports students in achieving their academic goals. The school also practices restorative justice to ensure all students are able to meet our behavior expectations and to empower both students and parents to be involved. Summit K2 has a student government, parent education series, PTA, and numerous volunteer opportunities, as well as a recently formed parent organization, POP (Parents of the Pack). To build a positive culture, Summit has monthly rallies, spirit weeks, dances, and Black History month celebrations.
Summit K2 offers numerous clubs, sports, and after school programming, such as yearbook, gardening, Young Dreamers Network, capoeira, anime, drama, volleyball, basketball, soccer, and cheer. The school communicates regularly with parents and families via weekly newsletters, TeamSnap, robo-calls, and mailers and offers a parent education series and a PTA. After school programming includes Boys & Girls Club, clubs, sports, and academic support.
